RNC of the WPC discusses the draft of Energy Strategy – 2035

The State Duma of the Russian Federation held a discussion of the draft Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2035, organised by the State Duma Committee for Energy. The round table session was attended by deputies, representatives of federal and regional authorities, energy companies, scientific and educational institutions, public organisations, including a representative of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council.

The document discloses priorities, goals and objectives of the state policy in the energy sector and its key segments, as well as identifies measures to ensure the achievement of the declared results. The Energy Strategy is the most important reference point for companies in the country's fuel and energy sector.

The updated draft of the Energy Strategy – 2035 was submitted to the Russian Government in December 2019. This event is especially important because the document has not been updated for more than 10 years, and over the past years, the global and Russian energy system has undergone fundamental changes due to growing market competition, geopolitical, technological and economic peculiarities, and increased attention to the environment.

The draft Energy Strategy – 2035 is widely discussed in the professional community. "Round table" of the State Duma Committee on Energy "Energy Strategy – 2035: long-term guidelines in a changing environment. Discussion of the relevance of developing and approving a strategic industry document" was another opportunity for industry representatives to make suggestions and comments on the content of the document. Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel Sorokin took part in discussion of Energy Strategy – 2035. The meeting was moderated by Pavel Zavalny, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy.

"The priority for RNC of the WPC is to defend the interests of our country's oil and gas complex in the international arena. The approval of Energy Strategy – 2035 will be a key reference point for us in conducting such work. In December 2020, the World Petroleum Congress will be held in Houston. The renewed Energy Strategy will strengthen the position of the Russian delegation during the discussions at this representative and authoritative international platform," said Vlada Streletskaya, Director of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council.
