Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council has started the educational project “EnerGenious-2021”. The aims of the project are to expand and deepen young people's understanding of the oil and gas industry, to involve the most capable and motivated representatives of the new generation into the industry, to promote professional orientation and training.

Like a year before, the project includes two key events – a case marathon and a winter school. Students and high school students will participate in the project.

Until October 30, 2020 RNC of the WPC accepts applications from students of 1-3 years of study in Russian universities for participation in a case marathon. Candidates will be selected on a competitive basis.

Applicants have to fill in the application form located at link, record a video and upload it to any online resource, the video has to be no longer than 3 minutes. The video should contain a short story about yourself and your personal achievements, about your motivations for participation in the project, about your strengths and how they will help you in the project. Applicants should also include in the video thoughts about their future role in the oil and gas industry.

Case marathon starts in November 2020. It is held in the format of a business game, combined with online training. All participants will be divided into several teams. In the course of the business game each team will offer its own variant of implementation of the project, which is close to the reality. In 2020 it was a project of offshore oil and gas field development. This time the participants will be offered several projects to choose from in the following areas: creation of a concept for the location of hydrocarbons; development of offshore oil and gas fields; geology; mechanical engineering; petrochemistry.

The final of the case marathon will be held in February 2021 in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, at the site of the IV International Youth Research and Practical Forum "Oil Capital". Finalists will have the opportunity to attend the forum events and classes of the winter school "EnerGenious", also held at the site of the "Oil Capital".

The educational project "EnerGenious" is oranised by RNC of the WPC with the support of the executive authorities of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra and St. Petersburg, Gubkin and St. Petersburg Mining Universities, the International Competence Centre for Mining-Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO.
