Participation of Russia in World Petroleum Congresses

For the first time Russia attended the World Petroleum Congress in 1955. It was the 4th Congress and was held in Rome.

Subsequently, Russian oil workers have participated in all congresses organised by the WPC. They actively use the unique opportunities of this largest international platform in the industry to study new technologies, exchange ideas and opinions, and develop cooperation.

Twice – in 1971 (the 8th Congress) and in 2014 (the 21st Congress) – the World Petroleum Congresses were held in Moscow. According to participants' feedback, these events were organised at a high level.

For the Association "RNC of the WPC", the organisation and holding of world petroleum congresses, as well as ensuring effective Russian participation in congresses and other WPC events, are the main areas of activity. The Association purposefully uses all available means to promote Russia's interests in preparing and holding World Petroleum Congresses. Participation of the official representative of the RNC of the WPC in the Programme Committee of the Congress allows active participation in selection of the thematic emphasis of the Congress, inclusion of Russian speakers in the programme of the event.

The Association facilitates the preparation, expertise and promotion of Russian representatives' reports. The RNC of the WPC participates in the formation of Russian delegations, assists interested individuals and organisations in arranging travel to congresses, provides advisory support, and carries out other organisational activities.

Today, Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council is focused on preparing for the 24th World Petroleum Congress, which will take place in Calgary, Canada, from 17 to 21 September 2023.

We look forward to seeing you among the Russian participants, ready to answer questions and provide assistance.
