200 days left until the opening of the 6th Youth Forum of the World Petroleum Council – Future Leaders Forum. The most massive and prestigious international meeting of young people, who have casted in lot with oil and gas industry, will be held in St. Petersburg from June 23 to 28, 2019
It is expected that about 2,000 students, postgraduate students, young professionals and recognized representatives of senior generation from dozens of countries playing crucial role in production and use of hydrocarbons will become guests and delegates of the Forum. The oldest engineering university in Russia – St. Petersburg Mining University – will host participants of the Forum’s technical program.

In fact, 200 days – is the final straight for the Forum’s organizers. The main goal is to provide a high organizational level of this grand international event. The details of this work were discussed during the meeting of Kirill Molodtsov, the Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Forum, Assistant Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, with active members of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council. The meeting was held in Gubkin University, where K. Molodtsov spoke with students on a topic, which was concordant with the agenda of the Future Leaders Forum – the role and place of young people in the future oil and gas industry, skills and features that lead to the success in profession and life.

As the start date of the Forum is approaching, it is taking more visible shape. An event program has been formed, as well as the key areas of coming discussions have been determined. It is decided that the Plenary Session will be devoted to consideration of the topic “Energy Transformation – Map of the Future”. One of the key topics will be “Competences and skills for innovative solutions”, which is to be further developed at the 23rd World Petroleum Congress in Houston in 2020.

Call for Papers will be open until January 15, 2019 Young Professionals are welcome to submit abstracts of scientific papers, which will be afterwards proposed for the program of Technical sessions. This refers to the abstracts summarizing the results of independent research implemented on the most relevant topics of the sectoral agenda.

The organizers announced 9 key topics that applicants should focus on. These topics are divided into three groups – Leadership, Innovation, and Sustainability. Applications are submitted via a special form on the official website of the Future Leaders Forum www.flf-russia.com. The authors of the most interesting proposals will receive invitations to speak at the Forum.

Students, postgraduate students and young professionals under the age of 35 can submit their abstracts. The selection will be carried out by an expert group consisting of members of the Youth and Program Committees of the WPC. Abstracts are considered in an impersonal form. Accordingly, only the relevance and quality of research will be taken into account. All abstracts must be written in English.

A team of volunteers is also being actively formed. So far, applications have been received from young candidates from 24 countries of the world. This international volunteer list includes representatives from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. But, of course, young people from Russia, a host country of the 6th Future Leaders Forum, take the most active part. Representatives of 13 Russian universities and young professionals from Moscow and St. Petersburg, Omsk, Almetyevsk, Tyumen, Kazan, Ufa showed the willingness to help organize the event.

The high level of interest in participating in the Forum as volunteers is explained not only by a will to assist the organizers, but also by the possibility of full participation in all events without paying a registration fee, which is mandatory for delegates. It is assumed that the volunteers’ working day will last 3-4 hours, and during the rest of the time they will be able to participate in meetings, discussions, excursions, communicate with guests and delegates of the Forum.

Applications from candidates to the volunteer programme will be accepted until January 15, 2019 If you are under 35 years old, you are interested in the Forum program and speak English, it is worth to get involved in the volunteer programme. There is not much time to reflect on it.

In the near future, registration for young professionals to participate in the 6th Future Leaders Forum as delegates will be opened. Participation is on a paying basis, but the registration fee covers only a small part of the actual costs of participation in a great technical program and a unique cultural program.

At this level, the success of the Forum to a large extent is determined by the level of sponsorship. The platinum sponsor is RussNeft oil company. Negotiations with a number of other reputable companies, that also expressed their wish to provide financial support to the Future Leaders Forum – 2019, are close to completion. This makes feel confident that the ambitious program of the world’s largest meeting of young people, who are aspiring to prove themselves in the oil and gas industry, will be fully implemented.

“The Youth Forums of the World Petroleum Council are held not often – once every three years, – says Vlada Streletskaya, director of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council. – Participation in this event provides, in fact, a unique chance to express yourself, increase knowledge, expand the professional network, and find like-minded people from various countries from across the world. Do not miss this opportunity.”
