On February 17-21, Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council is holding “EnerGenious” winter school in Nizhnevartovsk.

The Winter School is an intensive introductory course for school students of 9-11th grade, which allows high school students to get not only theoretical knowledge about oil and gas industry, but also to get acquainted with the organisation of production processes in practice. Authoritative specialists of the oil and gas industry from different countries of the world are invited to give lectures at the winter school "EnerGenious".

In 2020, the school students of St. Petersburg and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra the winners of international olympiads in physics, chemistry and ecology or those who excelled in their studies received invitations to “EnerGenious” Winter School. The introductory course will help high school students choose their future profession and understand how attractive and interesting work in the oil and gas industry is for them.

In addition, participants of the "EnerGenious" Winter School will be students of the St. Petersburg Mining University and universities of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra. They have made their choice of profession earlier, but communication with leading specialists and industry experts is expected to be very useful for them as well.

The location for the "EnerGenious" Winter School is Nizhnevartovsk, one of the most comfortable cities in Ugra, which has been playing an important role in Russian oil production for many decades. The schedule of the "EnerGenious" Winter School includes various lectures allowing high school and University students to get a broad idea of the situation in the industry and its prospects, learn a lot of new and interesting things about various areas of the oil and gas industry.

One of the key events of the Winter School will be preparation and defense of cases. Collective creative work will help students consolidate their knowledge and develop teamwork skills.

Classes of the winter school "EnerGenious" are included in the programme of the 3rd Youth Forum of Applied Research "Oil Capital", which is held in Nizhnevartovsk on February 18-19. High school students and University students studying at the "EnerGenious" school will be able to take part in the events of this authoritative youth Forum.

Besides, the children will visit Samotlor oil and gas field and Nizhnevartovsk regional power station, companies Surgutneftegas and Slavneft - Megionneftegas. An interesting cultural and entertaining programme has been prepared for them.

The Winter School of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council "EnerGenious" is held with the participation and support of the Administration of St. Petersburg, the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, the St. Petersburg Mining University, the International Competence Centre for Mining-Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO.
