Initiatives by RNC of the WPC were supported in Saint Petersburg

On February 13, an agreement on cooperation was signed in St. Petersburg within the framework of preparation and holding of educational events of the "EnerGenious" Winter School, organised by the Association "Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council on the organization and carrying out of the world petroleum congresses" (RNC of the WPC).

The document was signed by the Chair of the Committee on Education of St. Petersburg Zhanna Vorobieva, Deputy Chair of the Tourism Development Committee of St. Petersburg Nana Gvichia and Director of the RNC of the WPC Vlada Streletskaya.

The signing of the agreement was made possible thanks to the holding of a large-scale international event – the VI Youth Forum of the World Petroleum Council, Future Leaders Forum – by the RNC of the WPC in St. Petersburg in June 2019. It was a bright and significant event involving young representatives of the oil and gas industry from 62 countries. “EnerGenious” is financed from the funds remaining after the Future Leaders Forum in St. Petersburg.

"The success of the Forum was largely due to the active support of the St. Petersburg Administration, said Vlada Streletskaya. – We are happy to continue and develop our successful cooperation".

The agreement, signed on February 13, defines the principles and mechanisms of cooperation aimed at achieving the maximum efficiency of the educational and training programme "EnerGenious" as a platform for the formation and development of human resources potential of the fuel and energy complex of Russia.

"One of the goals of the agreement is to develop educational tourism, said Nana Gvichia. – Nowadays, it is an effective means of education, training and professional orientation of the younger generation. This area of the tourism industry provides children with a unique opportunity to learn more about the history and aspects of different professions. In this case, schoolchildren can get acquainted with such fundamental branch as fuel and energy complex".

Winter School "EnerGenious" is an intensive introductory course for pupils of 9-11th grades, that allows high school students to get not only theoretical knowledge about the oil and gas industry, but also to get acquainted with the organisation of production processes in practice.

"For the St. Petersburg education system, participation in this project will be a logical continuation of the policy of identifying and supporting gifted children. Children who become students of the Winter School will gain invaluable experience and, perhaps, will be determined with the choice of their future profession," said the Chair of the Committee on Education, Zhanna Vorobieva.

Pupils from St. Petersburg will take part in two programmes of the Winter School "EnerGenious": from 17 to 21 February the classes will be held in Nizhnevartovsk (Russia), and from 2 to 6 March – in Stavanger (Norway). Authoritative oil and gas industry specialists from different countries are invited to give lectures at the “EnerGenious” Winter School. Besides lectures, the programme includes educational technical tours to production facilities and practical classes.
