Educational project “EnerGenious-2021” has started

On November 26, the new cycle of the educational project "EnerGenious" has started. The core event of the programme is a case marathon. It will be held as a business game, combined with online training. During three months participants, divided into teams, will perform tasks that are close to the tasks solved by oil and gas companies in practice. Each team is assigned to curators who have experience of working at industrial facilities of the industry.

Final project presentations and awarding ceremony will take place in March 2021 in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra, at the site of the IV International Youth Forum of Applied Sciences "Oil Capital". The marathon participants will also attend the Winter school, organised by the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council.

More than 150 high school and university students from 15 regions of Russia and neighbouring countries take part in the case marathon "EnerGenious". All of them passed the preliminary competitive selection.

The educational project "EnerGenious" is focused on expanding and deepening young people's understanding of the oil and gas industry, involving the most capable and motivated representatives of the new generation into the industry, promoting career guidance and professional training.

The Opening Ceremony of the new cycle of "EnerGenious" project was held in a video conference format. Young participants of the educational marathon were greeted by Tor Fjaeran, President of the World Petroleum Council; Kirill Molodtsov, Advisor to Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office; Maxim Novikov, Deputy Director of the Department for Subsoil Use and Natural Resources of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra; Elena Vladimirskaya, First Deputy Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Education; Nana Gvichia, Deputy Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development; Ulrike von Lonski, Chief Operating Officer of the World Petroleum Council; Victor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University. On the first day of the educational marathon two master classes on exploration and development of hydrocarbon fields were organised for the participants. They were conducted by Stanislav Dobryden from Surgutneftegaz and Anastasia Vanina from Slavneft-Megionneftegaz.

Educational project "EnerGenious" is implemented by the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council with the support of the executive authorities of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra and St. Petersburg, Gubkin University and St. Petersburg Mining University, the International Competence Centre for Mining-Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO, Surgutneftegaz, Gazprom Neft, Slavneft-Megionneftegaz, SIBUR.

"Last year, after we successfully held the Future Leaders Forum of the World Petroleum Council in St. Petersburg, the idea of engaging educated, active and responsible young people in the industry on a systematic basis was formed. This is how the Energy League programme was born, the key part of which was EnerGenious," recalls Vlada Streletskaya, Director of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council.

"The initiative created great interest, it was supported by the authorities and companies of the industry. It is obvious that the future of the industry depends not only on technologies, but also on the level of new generation specialists. "EnerGenious" gives a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the oil and gas industry and to choose a profession based on this experience," – said V. Streletskaya.
