International conference “Oil and Gas Industry Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals” programme structure has been approved. Association “RNC of the WPC” will hold the event on 6th October at the venue of 10th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

During the conference four sessions are planned to be organised:

• Oil & Gas: sustainable development trajectories
• Decarbonization: risks and opportunities for the Oil & Gas industry
• Economic, ecological and energy aspects of the sustainable development
• Industry attractiveness in a changing world: a dialogue between generations

As one of the largest sectors of the global economy, the oil and gas industry can play a significant role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals proclaimed by the UN General Assembly. The 2030 Agenda focuses on the balanced development of economic, social and environmental processes to improve the quality of life.

While oil and gas companies are close to all 17 sustainability goals, there are several areas that enable the sector to reach its fullest potential and make a significant contribution to solving social challenges and achieving environmental security. These include, first and foremost, sustainable and efficient energy access, sustainable production and consumption patterns, climate and environmental challenges, and global partnership mechanisms.

For an in-depth discussion of the industry's challenges and opportunities in achieving sustainable development goals, the Programme Committee of the RNC MNS invited outstanding scientists, representatives of the oil and gas business and public organisations. Due to the relevance of the subject matter, the conference has attracted high interest from Russian and foreign oil and gas industry specialists.

The 10th Anniversary St. Petersburg International Gas Forum will be held at Expoforum from 5 to 8 October 2021. The discussions held at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum usually help to formulate specific recommendations to improve the economic and social efficiency of the oil and gas complex, and promote the development of international contacts.

This is the first year when Association “RNC of the WPC” is a co-organiser of St. Petersburg Gas Forum.
