The “Mining Industry. Junior" magazine published an article about the RNC WPC “EnerGenious” project

The popular science magazine “Mining Industry. Junior" published an article dedicated to the educational project EnerGenious. On the eve of the new – third – cycle of this large-scale event, the editors invited the winners and prize-winners of the previous cycle of EnerGenious to talk about their experience of participation in the project.

High school student Ekaterina Okuneva from Khanty-Mansiysk, gymnasium student Artem Lipinski from St. Petersburg, student Elena Udalova from Omsk and student Radmir Gafarov from Ufa shared their impressions. All of them recognised that participation in the EnerGenious project was a bright and very useful event, and praised the quality of the programme and the level of organisation of the event.

"Most importantly, I realised that I am interested in the oil and gas industry, said E.Okuneva. – I enjoyed learning new things and applying them to solve problems. I had to do a lot of complicated calculations, which turned out to be challenging, but fascinating. I enjoyed imagining myself in the role of an expert and presenting a project. I also realised that I am good at teamwork and I like collaborative work”.

"Participation in the case marathon was very useful for me. I felt more confident. I realised that I have the qualities I need in business. I am very grateful to the organisers for the valuable experience gained with their help, which will be useful in life”, said A.Lipinski.

"The project and its informational component gave me a strong basis for understanding the specifics of the field development process, recalls E.Udalova. – I learned not only from experts and specialists, with whom I had good contact, but also from my teammates. The fact that there were representatives from different universities, profiles and specialisations involved in the project was very important to me”.

According to R. Gafarov, who has participated in several similar events before, EnerGenious was a pleasant surprise. It turned out to be not only case study solving, but also an advanced course of lectures from leading oil and gas industry experts. In addition, teamwork gives a lot more to individual competitions. Another important feature noted by R. Gafarov: the project assignment is as close to production realities as possible.

The “EnerGenious” educational project is implemented by the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council together with the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra. It is aimed at broadening and deepening young people's understanding of the oil and gas industry, engaging the most capable and motivated members of the new generation in the industry, and promoting career guidance and professional training. The core event of the project is a three-month case-marathon, where participants in teams perform tasks that are as close as possible to the tasks solved by oil and gas companies in practice.

The popular science youth industry magazine “Mining Industry. Junior" is published by the Academy of Mining Sciences. The editorial board seeks to develop young people's interest in the natural sciences and the mineral sector of the economy.
