The fourth cycle of the “EnerGenious” project has finished
From 20 to 24 March 2023 in Nizhnevartovsk, 135 schoolchildren and students from 14 regions of Russia and the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the Winter School of the Educational Career Guidance Project “EnerGenious-2023” in a hybrid format.
The project traditionally included two events – case-marathon and winter school.
The first stage took place in the format of an online case-marathon, which was prepared jointly with leading companies and Russian universities in 4 areas:
  • Equipment construction optimisation – Rimera Group;
  • Modern hydrocarbon production methods – RN-Yuganskneftegaz LLC together with Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas;
  • Creation of hydrocarbon field development concept – St. Petersburg Mining University;
  • Offshore oil and gas field development – a team of specialists from national oil and gas companies.
Like in previous years, the final stage of the “EnerGenious” project was held at the site of the International Youth Applied Research Forum “Oil Capital”. At the winter school the future oil industry workers had a full programme – in addition to educational lectures and case studies they were able to attend training sessions, informal meetings with representatives of the fuel and energy complex, as well as quizzes and technical tours to Hydro power station and Rimera-Service Ltd.

Alexander Gomzyak, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony of the “EnerGenious-2023” winter school:

- "EnerGenious” is already four years old. Three years ago the first winter school was held in Nizhnevartovsk, where children from Ugra and St.Petersburg took part, and today 14 regions of Russia as well as the Republic of Uzbekistan are engaged. Apart from the geography of the project, the number of companies, participants, and successful cases is also growing. I hope that the next “EnerGenious” will also be held in Ugra. I wish you good luck and confidence that your projects will win. You have an opportunity to build your career in the oil and gas sector".

The actual presentation of the case studies, which schoolchildren and students had been working on for several months in teams, took place on 22 and 23 March 2023 with the presence of Natalia Komarova, Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra:

"This is the fourth time we have hosted “EnerGenious” in Ugra. This project has rightly become a hallmark of the International Youth Applied Research Forum “Oil Capital”. Undoubtedly, “EnerGenious” helps attract talented and enterprising young people to the oil and gas industry: as future engineers and managers, school participants undergo real professional tryouts. Last year we decided to send the winning team of the “EnerGenious” final to the Sirius Centre's annual educational programme without having to undergo a competitive selection process. In 2023 we want to continue this tradition and include a separate area in the programme of the regional shift - "Development of the Arctic and the World Ocean" and invite “EnerGenious” organisers and experts to work with children on the Sirius platforms. I thank the project partners for their participation, for developing project tasks and issuing expert evaluations. I expect that the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council will decide to hold the fifth winter school also in Ugra in 2024".

The jury for the school projects was formed from the oil and gas industry experts:
  1. Vagif Maharram oglu Abbasov, Academician, General Director of the Yusif Mammadaliyev Institute of Petrochemical Processes of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan;
  2. Irina Denisenko, Head of direction for technical and economic support of projects, Preproject Works Department, Gazprom Neft Shelf LLC;
  3. Evgeny Kislitsin, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Radio Electronics and Electric Power Engineering, Surgut State University;
  4. Nikolay Nesterov, Head of Youth Policy Department of RN-Yuganskneftegaz LLC;
  5. Dmitry Tananykhin, Dean of Oil and Gas Department of Saint-Petersburg Mining University;
  6. Vladimir Verbitsky, Associate Professor, Department of Oil Field Development and Exploitation, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas;
  7. Valery Yazev, Chairman of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council.
"The case study presentation is the culmination of the “EnerGenious” project. Several months of training and work with mentors from oil and gas companies and the best industry universities of our country are over. Broadening of project participants geography, and this year 135 participants from 14 regions of Russia and Uzbekistan reached the final stage, testifies to the fact that this initiative of RNC WPC, called to help attract talented and initiative young people to the industry, assist their professional education and career growth, finds a good response among young and talented guys. And the level of solutions to complex practical problems presented to the experts inspires confidence in the prosperous future of the fuel and energy complex", - commented Anna Geraskina, Project Coordinator.

"Our team comes to Ugra for the fourth time and already feels a part of this region. Now we continue to learn something new together with the participants of “EnerGenious” and help them apply their knowledge in practice while solving case tasks. We thank the representatives of oil and gas companies for mentoring and supporting the project", - said Vlada Streletskaya, Director of the Association “RNC of the WPC”.
