Сlasses has started at the Summer School – a joint project of the RNC WPC and the Gubkin University
July 30 at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) the International Educational Summer School, organized for foreign students studying oil and gas majors has started. More than 70 young men and women from 19 universities of 18 countries of the world became the listeners of the Summer School. Compared with last year, the number of students has more than doubled.

The participants of the Summer School are offered three programs to choose: Technologies for Effective and Safe Arctic Development, Arctic Logistics and Modern Technology for Well Construction. Professors and teachers of Russian and foreign universities, leading specialists of a number of oil and gas companies are involved as lecturers.

The event is aimed at ensuring that during the week of classes the students receive a maximum of knowledge on the most topical issues of the future development of the global oil and gas industry. An important role is given to the communication of students from different countries and continents on professional topics.

Victor Martynov, Rector of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) opened the classes of the Summer School. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the oil and gas sector, as modern projects are characterized by the great complexity of the technological tasks being solved, the high cost and long payback period, significant environmental risks. In the context of industrialization 4.0, when technologies are developing at a rapid pace, it is very difficult to stay on the crest of a traditional education system – training programs often lag behind realities. That is why the role of additional education is very great now, including in the format of the Summer School.

Summer School is a partnership project of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council and the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU), implemented with the support of Norwegian universities Molde University College and University of Stavanger, SIU – Norwegian Center for International Cooperation, and Montan Universitat (Austria). “Next summer we are holding the Future Leaders Forum in St. Petersburg – the 6th Youth Forum of the World Petroleum Council,” says Anatoly Zolotukhin, Deputy Chairman of the RNC WPC, Senior Vice President of the WPC. – We hope that the participants of the Summer School will want to return to Russia to participate in the Future Leaders Forum together with their university friends. And for us, as organizers of the Forum, it is useful to clarify the professional demands of future industry experts. ”
