Members of the Future Leaders Forum Program Committee met with students from different countries in Moscow
A large-scale presentation of the 6th Youth Forum of the World Petroleum Council – the Future Leaders Forum – was held at the sites of the 3rd International Forum “New generation: Across the Universe”. The participants were members of the International Program Committee of the Future Leaders Forum, who arrived in our country at the invitation of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Congress.

Student Forum “New Generation: Across the Universe” is traditionally held at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, with the support of the International Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the World Petroleum Council (WPC) and the International Gas Union (IGU). This year, about 70 students from 38 countries and 36 universities of the world, as well as young specialists from foreign oil and gas companies participated in the forum.

One of the central events of the “New Generation: Across the Universe” forum was the plenary session “Creating the future of energy: the role of our generation”, held by the members of the Program Committee of the Future Leaders Forum. They told about the activities of the World Petroleum Council and the Youth Committee of the World Petroleum Council, as well as about the program, goals, tasks and opportunities of the 6th Forum of Future Leaders, which will be held in St. Petersburg in June.

During the plenary session, topical issues of the sectoral agenda were also discussed. Much attention was paid to the key challenges facing the global energy industry, the place and role of the younger generation in addressing the challenges facing the industry, combining professional activities with community work and participation in volunteer programs.

Joanna Desjardins, Vice President of the World Petroleum Council, took part in a plenary session on the quality of education.
“Today there are about 320 universities in the world where oil and gas business is taught. For students from different countries, as future industry leaders, it is important to meet and just know each other to be successful in the future. International youth forums play an important connecting role, helping to spread knowledge, build new contacts, and share experience in the education sphere,” said Victor Martynov, member of the organizing committee of the 6th Forum of Future Leaders, Rector of Gubkin University.

“While preparing the 6th Forum of Future Leaders, it is very important to feel the rhythm of time, mood and professional interests of young specialists. Student forums organized with our participation, such as the “New Generation: Across the Universe” and the “Oil Capital”, recently completed in Khanty-Mansiysk, are a kind of excellent training grounds on the eve of the mega-event for students and young professionals in the oil and gas industry of the world – the Future Leaders Forum, – said Vlada Streletskaya, director of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council.
